High potential and gifted education

At Peel High School, we are committed to recognising, nurturing, and extending the high potential of every learner. Guided by the NSW Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Policy, our approach ensures that all students are known, valued, and challenged to achieve their personal best across the intellectual, creative, social-emotional, physical, and cultural domains of potential.

Our implementation of the HPGE Policy reflects a belief that excellence is not the outcome of chance, but of opportunity, access, and deliberate practice. Through evidence-informed teaching, inclusive identification processes, and targeted enrichment and extension programs, we create pathways for students to thrive—within and beyond the classroom.

This framework outlines how Peel High School will embed HPGE principles across teaching, learning, and leadership practices. It affirms our shared responsibility to recognise potential early, provide appropriately challenging learning experiences, and celebrate excellence in all its forms. By doing so, we aim to shift every learner from potential to performance, and from performance to excellence.
