Junior drama

Drama at Peel High is improving and developing every year. The course in the junior years aims to improve confidence and to give students a basic understanding of acting and production skills. 

Year 8: Clowning and Street Performing (semester course)

Year 9 & 10:

Term 1 – Collage Drama and Theatre Sports

Term 2 – The Drama play

Term 3 – Comedy with a focus on Commedia Del Arte

Term 4 – Story Telling with a focus on film making (Horror)

IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE A JUNIOR COURSE TO STUDY SENIOR DRAMA.

Senior Drama

In the senior school the Preliminary course mirrors the HSC course. It also allows students to use their creative skills as a means of creating two major pieces of work.

Topics covered

Individual project (IP)

Students are able to use their creativity in one of the following areas – Monologue, costume design, set design, program design, script writing, film-making, production reviews and directors portfolio.

Group project (GP)

Students work in groups to create a performance with class peers.

Topics of study

Surrealism, Realism, Absurdism, Brecht, Australian Drama, Shakespeare, Musical Theatre, Black Comedy, Medieval Theatre, Irish Drama, Greek Tragedy, Theatre of Cruelty and Verbatim Theatre.
