Selective stream

Peel High School is a partially selective high school. Selective high schools are one of the ways that the department supports high potential and gifted students. These are students who learn faster and more easily than others.

As a partially selective high school, we have both local students in non-selective classes, and students who are placed through the selective high school process. Students in the selective high school stream will typically have classes together for English, mathematics and science.

You can apply for a selective high school place even if our school is outside your local enrolment area. During your application, your child must show their academic potential. Learn more at Enrol.

Benefits of attending a selective high school

Our selective high school students also take part in our many extra-curricular activities like sports, arts, music, and clubs.

The Bright Plan
The Bright Plan supports selective class students to take ownership of their learning through goal setting, reflection, and strengths awareness. It develops self-regulated learners who identify and extend their potential across the five domains: intellectual, creative, social-emotional, physical, and cultural.
The Bright Program
The Bright Program uses evidence from the Bright Plan to connect students with targeted extension, enrichment, and leadership pathways. A comprehensive suite of clubs, incursions and excursions are held throughout the year.
The Lumina Program
The Lumina Program exists to ignite, nurture, and extend the potential of our NOVA learners, fostering intellectual curiosity, creativity, leadership, and cultural identity. The Lumina program nurtures Nova learners across all domains — intellectual, creative, socio-emotional, physical, and cultural — through inclusive, responsive, and evidence-based academic talent development from Years 7–12.
