Peel High School Library

The Peel High Library is a dynamic, resource-rich environment where students can access a range of texts in many media formats. The librarian is Ms Tania Gammage and her assistant is Ms Ashlee Robinson (Mon, Wed, Thu & Fri). We have been extensively expanding our collection with student requested novels, graphic novels and a broadly expanded manga selection.

We cater for not only a broad selection of reading levels, we also have expanded into many different genres, including Indigenous, multicultural, environmental and others such as fantasy, young adult, crime fiction and adventure.

We are very approachable and are happy to help with selections, recomendations and also in supporting students with research and technology.

Student Access - Junior Students

Junior students (Years 7-10) are only allowed access to the library during Lunch Break, they are not allowed in the library before school and during Recess. Each junior year group is designated a different day of library access. The schedule for junior student library access is as follows:

Monday: Year 7

Tuesday: Year 8

Wednesday: Quiet Study & Reading Only No Video Games allowed on Wednesdays

Thursday: Year 9

Student Access - Senior Students

Senior students (Years 11-12) are allowed access to the library before school, Recess and Lunch Break. Senior students are heavily advised to only use the library to study and to complete their homework and assesment tasks.

Senior Study

Senior Study runs most Tuesday afternoons from 3:30pm-5pm in the Library for Year 11 and 12 students only. These sessions provide our senior student with additional assistance and access to technology in order to complete their assessment tasks and homework.

Homework Centre

Homework Centre runs most Wednesday afternoons after school from 3:30pm-5pm. During this time students are able to use books, computers and seek assistance from supervising teachers in order to complete any set homework or assessment tasks. Students will be provided a small afternoon tea snack and those who live within the immediate school zone (Westdale, Coledale, West Tamworth and South Tamworth) have the option to catch the Peel High School bus home.
