Student Support Officer

Dear Peel High School Community,

The Department of Education is investing $88.4 million over the next four years to provide every public high school in NSW with a full-time school counselling allocation, as well as a full-time student support officer. This initiative will make it easier for students to access mental health and wellbeing support.

To support this initiative, the NSW Department of Education will be employing an initial 139 full-time ongoing Student Support Officers (SSOs) for roles commencing in July, 2020. Our school has been identified as one of the first to receive an SSO.

To support us in sharing this amazing employment opportunity with our school community, the DoE have included links to some of the campaign elements that we can share via our newsletter or school social media channels:

  • Hero Video - Charlie is an experienced SSO working at Prairiewood High School. In this video, he shares his experiences and encourages others to join the profession. View here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwoLb4RNH64.
  • Job Ad Bitly -  this URL will direct people to the job ad on IworkforNSW quickly and easily: https://bit.ly/SSOpositions
  • Social Media - a number of adverts related to SSO recruitment are being posted on LinkedIN, YouTube, SEEK and the teach.NSW Facebook and Instagram pages..

Additional information is available on the NSW Department of Education website.
